  • Three Ways to Shift Your Life

Looking for ways to shift your life from stuck to AMAZING? From disconnected to reconnected? From numb to feeling all the good feels? Well yay for you!! because I’m about to share three ways to shift your life. Read on to find out.

Great News, You’re in the Right Place!

You are in the right place (figuratively and literally) if you’re looking for ways to shift your life. You’re in the right place because you’re reading this right now, but you’re also in the best place in your life to be at this very moment because you’re looking for answers. You are ready for change. You’re open to new ways of doing things and you know there’s something better out there for you.

How Do I Know Anything About You?

I know because I’ve been where you are and now I’m where I am, which is happy, healthy, motivated, confident and making shit happen. I’ve tried a lot of things and many didn’t work the way I wanted them to but some have worked stunningly well. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I have all the answers or have it all together and but I’m also not blowing sunshine up your ass. I’ve figured a ton of stuff out over the past 18 months as a fledgling wannabe entrepreneur and I’m just sharing what I’ve learned. I still have moments of WTF, but they are FEW and far between. So now that you’re looking for ways to shift your life, Ima share what created a huge shift in my life and blew the old (whiney-ass, insecure, I have nothing to offer) me out of the water. Ya feelin’ me?

Three Ways to Shift Your Life

Ok so let’s get on with it, right?

The first way to shift your life: a vision board

I can see y’all rolling your eyes right now but bear with me. I’ve long been a believer in the power of vision boards because, quite simply, they work.  If you’re a visual person like I am, then you HAVE TO make a vision board. Seeing images of the things you want to have in your life is some powerful shit. You have so much crap floating through your head every day that’s not even helping you. A vision board gives you what you want right in front of your eyes, until you get so used to seeing those images, they can’t help but show up in your life.

I could tell a whole story about the amazing shift that happened after my last vision board, but I’ll save that for another post. Or you can email me or reach out on social media and I’ll be happy to tell you all about it. In the meantime, let’s get on with #2.

If you’re interested in vision boards and you live in the Midland, Ontario area, this is a woman that hosts vision board parties (YES!! she hosts parties for this shit!!) and she’ll be hosting another one in September. You can find her here; Dionne Thomson

The second way to shift your life: reiki

I freakin love reiki. Have you ever gone for a massage? Reiki is like a massage except not for your muscles. It works with the energy systems in your body and the seven chakras. Similar to a massage which works on loosening and relieving tight muscles, reiki clears blocked energy resulting from emotional issues and beliefs that have been locked in the body.

You don’t have to know anything about it for it to work on you, you just have to be open to it.

My last session however, I was very specific about the chakras I needed help with. I’d been doing some work on underlying fears and discovered that when I thought of certain things that caused fearful thoughts, I could pinpoint exactly where I felt the fear in my body. I can explain all that too, but that’ll have to wait for another blog – or if you’re curious, reach out and we’ll chat.

You can find my reiki practitioner (and yoga guru) here: Jennifer Barth – Growth in the Grove

The Third Way to Shift Your Life: Journalling

Yes, journalling. Also called writing, introspection, brain dump, processing, pen to paper and therapy. Those are all the things I’ve called it over the years anyway.

I myself prefer to use a good old fashioned notebook (also called a journal) and a pen (another old fashioned utensil which is used for the old fashioned method called writing) but you may prefer your laptop or even the notes app on your phone just to get your thoughts out of your head.

There is no right or wrong way to journal. You can just start writing about your day (the ups and downs, the good and the bad) or start with a gratitude list and just write a few things you’re grateful for. Gratitude lists are powerful motivators and cause a profound shift on the inside. I’ve done a list of 100 a couple of times and THAT is a process of peeling back that layers in and of itself. It’s mindblowing what happens when you do that. It’s a whole cognitive process in itself that goes on and it’s quite enlightening. But also, for another blog.

The dog ate my journal but I’m still using it. 🙂

You can also start with a prompt, like a question or a statement, and then free-write. Don’t censor yourself, just let it flow. You will be amazed at the wisdom that comes through you when you put pen to paper. Or hands on keyboard…lol.

    And there you have it.

Three Ways to Shift Your Life

A vision board, reiki, and a journal. It’s like the lion, the witch and the wardrobe (if you’re of the age to remember what that even is) only different. But all have the power to unlock magic, mystery and a sense of unlimited possibilities.

  • You’ll Never Be Content Until You Make Peace With Who You Are – How to Live an Authentic Life

    Living an Authentic Life

Are you living an authentic life? Do you know what it means to live your authentic life?

Living authentically means being at peace with who you are and living life to the fullest. An alarming number of people struggle with being who they are. They are living life on autopilot, numb to what makes them happy.

    The Struggle to be Content

Struggle and content are two words that have no business being in the same sentence, yet most people have been experiencing that for months, years and lifetimes. You’ll never be content until you make peace with who you are. Bit of a sting to it, isn’t there?

The good news is that you already have everything within you to create the change you’re seeking. You have the wisdom, strength and awareness of what your soul needs. You just need a little help reconnecting to those hidden gems and finding the way back home to yourself. You’ve wandered off the path but your north star never stopped shining for you.

The Longing for an Authentic Life

You’re tired of the struggle of trying to fit in, find your place and be happy. I know the struggle because I’ve been there, in fact, I spent most of my life there. You long to be at peace with who you are and where you’re at but there’s something that’s still not right. The harder you try to make it work, the worse it gets. It feels like you’ve been fighting a never ending battle and you’re waving the white flag of surrender.

Take comfort in the knowing that it really is going to be ok. It’s darkest before the dawn and your sun is starting to rise.

Being content by making peace with who you are and living an authentic life is closer than you think.

Making Peace and Finding Your Authentic Self

How do you make peace with who you are? Afterall, isn’t that what you’ve been trying to do all along?

No one sets out to ruin their own day, or to make their lives more difficult with the choices they make. No one likes to be in a crappy mood.

The problem is that we’re making choices based on old programming. Programming so ingrained that its become habit and we don’t realize we’re our own worst enemy. Peace comes when you begin questioning this default thinking one negative thought at a time.

    Erin Hanson quote authentic living

    Denying the Dream Inside

We all have a deeply personal dream inside of us that we’re longing for. The conflict arises when we deny ourselves that dream and live according to the expectations of others.

We stop listening to the guiding voice within that directs us forward along our own path and default to the opinions of others, whether it’s spouses, parents, siblings, friends, society. In many cases it’s our own internal dialogue based on those limiting beliefs (which were actually the voices of others that we internalized at a young age and mistook for our own).

    Living An Authentic Life

If you’ve had enough of the struggle and are ready for change, you are in the absolute best time and place in your life right now to make it happen.

I’ve morphed from an anxiety-ridden, overly-reactive person who was rarely ever comfortable in my own skin and had self doubt so pervasive that I second guessed everything, to a woman who knows her worth and loves herself so deeply that I don’t second guess ANYTHING.

I don’t know everything or have all the answers, but I do know myself well enough that I have absolute faith in all that I do and every decision I make and that is some POWERFUL shit.

It’s a total game changer when you connect to that level of trust in yourself.

It’s the soul’s duty to be loyal to its own desires. It must abandon itself to its master passion.

My # 1 Tip for Reconnecting to My Authentic Self

One of my best secrets (it’s not really a secret, but that sounded super savvy when I first wrote it lol) for reconnecting with my authentic self is through a favourite book. I get all tingly excited when I buy a book I’ve been dying to read, and all warm and fuzzy when I re-read an old fav.

Here’s some recommendations. I have a ton of books and these are among the best when you’re taking your first steps at trying to figure out who you are and what you’ve forgotten.

Simple Abundance is a cherished one I first read 20 years ago and I am loving the gifts it’s bringing forth in me again. If you’re a woman my age…ahem….47…this book will resonate with you.

For the younger members of this tribe, I suggest anything by Rachel Hollis if you’re looking for a kick-in-the-ass, light-your-soul-on-fire kinda read. I literally got up and washed my face AND stopped apologizing after reading her work.
